Our Story
Magpie Spice Co. started with a garden and a problem: too many rare peppers, not enough hot sauce.
So we fixed that.
We grow hundreds of exotic pepper varieties you won't find anywhere else, ferment them into bold, wild flavor bombs, and bottle the whole beautiful chaos for you.
From seed to sauce, every drop is homegrown, handcrafted, and completely unlike anything sitting on your grocery store shelf.
Hot sauce this good shouldn't be this easy to find. Lucky for you, it is.
Who we are
Alex & Morgan
Co-founders
Alex and Morgan are two DC professionals who love two things above all else: getting their hands dirty and turning up the heat.
What started as a pandemic-era garden project in 2020 quickly spiraled into a full-blown obsession. Hundreds of rare pepper plants, endless fermentation experiments, and a whole lot of very happy taste-testers.
Magpie Spice Co. is their labor of love, built seed by seed between busy DC work schedules, and whatever chaos two little girls and one very opinionated American Bulldog named Roosevelt can throw at them.
There's never a dull (or should we say mild?) moment in the Magpie household. And that is how Morgan and Alex like it.

Erin joined the Magpie team in 2025. With a can-do attitude and a whole lot of opinions, she supports Alex and Morgan’s aspirations to bring Magpie’s delicious hot sauces to your tables.
What we do
Farm to Table Hot Sauce
We grow organic produce, including exotic varieties of hot peppers, with care to create “seed to bottle” hot sauces. Produced in small batches, Magpie’s hot sauces are fermented for approximately 12 months before being finished with care to create unique flavor profiles and shelf-stable products.
